Please first double check your email account, as you should have a copy of the original email we sent you when first signing up with TypeFrag. However, you may have changed your username and password since that email ; if this is the case, you will need to contact Support. Please provide them with your hostname, port, and any other pertinent information that can help us retrieve your username and password more quickly.
Setting up a Server Administrator password can be done through the Configuration page of your Control Panel. On this page, locate the Server Admin box and put in the Server Administrator password that you want. You will then need to click the Update button at the bottom of the page for the Ventrilo Server to restart and the password to work.
To cancel your server, log in to your Control Panel, browse to the Manage Servers page under Account, and click cancel. Please make sure to follow through with the process if you are using PayPal. You will need to make sure that your subscription with TypeFrag is discontinued for the cancellation to be complete. At any time in the future, you can log back into your account to renew your server.
Renewing your server is easy. You can renew by logging in to your Control Panel, browsing to the Manage Servers page under Account and then clicking the renew link. Your Ventrilo Server’s hostname and port will remain the same, as well as your Configuration. If you have forgotten your Control Panel information, you can first try resetting your password, and if that fails, you can contact our Support Department directly.
You can upgrade your server from the Account: Manage Servers page in the Control Panel. Before the upgrade option will appear on this page, you will need to cancel your PayPal or Credit Card subscription to your server by following the Cancel link. If you have a PayPal subscription, the cancel link will forward you to PayPal, where you must log in to cancel your subscription. Once it is cancelled, the PayPal website will forward you back to the Account: Manage Servers page where the upgrade option will appear. If you have a Credit Card subscription, the cancel link will forward you directly to the Account: Manage Servers page, where the upgrade option will appear. If you have any trouble during the process, please open up a support ticket.
You can downgrade your server from the Account: Manage Servers page in the control panel. Before the downgrade option will appear on this page, you will need to cancel your PayPal or Credit Card subscription to your server by following the Cancel link. If you have a PayPal subscription, the cancel link will forward you to PayPal, where you must log in to cancel your subscription. Once it is cancelled, the PayPal website will forward you back to the Account: Manage Servers page where the downgrade option will appear. If you have any trouble during the process, please open up a support ticket.
The TypeFrag Status Script is our customizable server status script made specifically for TypeFrag customers. It allows you to display all of your server's information on your personal website for your visitors to see. We allow you to fully customize the look of the script as well as what is displayed.
The only time you will not be able to edit the Configuration page of your Control Panel is when you are having Internet problems, or when your server is down. If the problem is not with your Internet connection, but with your server, please open up a support ticket through your Control Panel. If that does not work, use the Contact Us page to reach our Support Department. Please make sure to include your hostname, port, and a full description of the problem.
Chances are that if your Ventrilo Server goes down, we know about it; but sometimes individual servers will go down for reasons other than a problem with the computer. Other reasons for a Ventrilo Server going down are: if the server has been cancelled and not renewed by the billing date, if someone with access to the Control Panel has turned it off, and if similar kinds of interference have occurred. If you cannot find the reason for your Ventrilo Server being down, please submit a support ticket through your Control Panel.
We have built a Control Panel system that allows you to move your Ventrilo Server to a different location with a single click of a button. What you need to do is log in to your Control Panel, go to the Configuration page, select the location to which you want to move your Ventrilo Server, and click Update. Your server will be moved instantly to the new location you’ve selected. Your hostname will change, but your port and your Ventrilo Server's configuration will remain the same. We do not charge extra for you to move your server.
The Administrator password can be set on the Configuration page of your Control Panel. Log in, browse to the Configuration page. Find the box to type in your password, and then click Update to apply the changes. This Administrator password will give you complete access to all of the privileges allowing you to maintain your Ventrilo Server from within Ventrilo itself. Alternatively, you can fully administrate your Ventrilo Server through the Control Panel.
If you wish to put a password on your Ventrilo Server to prevent any random person from being able to connect and use your server, you can do so through the Configuration page of your Control Panel. Locate the Authentication area of the Configuration page, change it to Global Password and type in a password under User Password, which is directly underneath it. Click Update at the bottom of the page to apply the changes and your server will now require a password for anyone to connect.
The Mac version of Ventrilo only supports the Speex codecs at this time. Therefore, if you wish to allow Mac users to be able to communicate on your Ventrilo Server you need to change the voice codec to Speex on the Configuration page of your Control Panel. Speex codecs will work for both Mac and PC users.
You can create channels for your Ventrilo Server through the Channels page in your Control Panel. When you click Add to create a new channel, you will be presented with a handful of options for setting up the channel.
We recommend that you connect with the hostname of your Ventrilo Server (i.e. hostname.typefrag.com) and not with the IP, because IPs change, but hostnames stay the same. However, if you are having problems with your DNS and must use an IP, you can use the “ping” command through the Start: Run menu on a Windows computer.
If you are receiving a DNS error when trying to connect, this means that you will need to use the IP of your Ventrilo Server rather than its hostname. To locate the IP of your server, you can use the "ping" command through the Start: Run menu on a Windows computer. If this does not work, please open up a support ticket and we will be happy to give you the IP address.
Although it happens infrequently, our Ventrilo Servers can come under a load that causes all people connected to lag. If this should occur, please submit a support ticket through your Control Panel so that we are aware of the situation and can resolve it quickly. More frequently, people have individual problems with their Internet Service Providers (ISPs). In those cases the problem is on their end. If this happens to you, we recommend that you contact your ISP. A rule of thumb is: if everyone is having a problem, it’s at our end, but if it’s just you having the problem, then it’s at your end.
You can easily adjust the voice quality of your Ventrilo Server through the Configuration page of your Control Panel. Locate the Voice Codec setting under Voice Quality -- near the bottom of the Configuration page -- select whatever suits your purposes, and then click Update at the bottom of the page to restart your Ventrilo Server. You must restart your Ventrilo Server for the change of voice quality to take affect.
You can see your entire Ventrilo server log from your Control Panel. Click on the Server Log link under Server and proceed from there. You can search through specific dates or simply download the entire log.
If someone has gained unauthorized access to your Control Panel, you should contact us through our website, detailing your billing information and personal information. If everything checks out, we will return access to you. We know that having your account hacked is frustrating and we will work as fast as possible to restore access to you.
We have implemented a system for your own security that locks down access to your Control Panel after a number of failed attempts. This is to prevent people from constantly guessing your password in an attempt to gain illegal access to your account. Furthermore, we log all Internet Protocol (IP) attempts that try to log in to your account for increased security. We do understand that some people may repeatedly attempt to access their own account because they forget their password. Legitimate access to your Control Panel will be restored within 15 minutes from your last attempt, but we recommend that instead of trying multiple passwords that you first retrieve your password before attempting to log in.
