1Logging in as the Server Administrator

Ignore this section if you are already logged in as an administrator.

1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Login – This will bring up the Enter Admin Password menu.
2. Enter your server's Admin Password and click OK.
3. You will now be logged in as an administrator on your server, which will be denoted by a capital “A” next to your server's name in the upper-left corner of the server.

If the password was entered incorrectly you will automatically be kicked from the server, and receive an error message informing you as such. In this situation simply reconnect to the server, repeat the process, and ensure that the password is entered without any typos.

2Creating the AFK Channel

1. You will first need to create the channel that will be your dedicated AFK channel. For step-by-step instructions on how to do this please view our Adding Channels in Ventrilo tutorial.

3Adjusting Your AFK Settings

1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Server Properties.
2. In the User Inactivity section set the “Timeout” to the number of minutes required before a user is considered inactive.
3. Change the action from “Disconnect” to “Move to Channel”.
4. Click on the “…” button and select the channel that is to be your AFK channel, click OK, then click the Send button to apply these changes to your Ventrilo Server.

Congratulations! You have successfully created an AFK channel for your server.
