Logging in as the Server Administrator

Ignore this section if you are already logged in as an administrator.

  1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Login – This will bring up the Enter Admin Password menu.

  2. Enter your server's Admin Password and click OK.

  3. You will now be logged in as an administrator on your server, which will be denoted by a capital “A” next to your server's name in the upper-left corner of the server.

If the password was entered incorrectly you will automatically be kicked from the server, and receive an error message informing you as such. In this situation simply reconnect to the server, repeat the process, and ensure that the password is entered without any typos.

Changing a Channel's Codec

  1. Right-click the channel whose codec you would like to change, go to Channel Admin, and click Edit.

  2. Open the Codec drop down menu (located on the lower-right side of the Setup Channel menu), and choose the desired codec.
If you have any Mac users connecting to your server you will need to select the Speex codec as it is the only one that is both PC and Mac compatible.

  3. Open the Format drop down menu (located directly below the Codec menu), select the desired format, and click OK.

You have successfully changed the codec for a channel on your Ventrilo Server. Repeat this process to change codecs for other channels.
