Logging in as the Server Administrator

Ignore this section if you are already logged in as an administrator.

  1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Login – This will bring up the Enter Admin Password menu.

  2. Enter your server's Admin Password and click OK.

  3. You will now be logged in as an administrator on your server, which will be denoted by a capital “A” next to your server's name in the upper-left corner of the server.

If the password was entered incorrectly you will automatically be kicked from the server, and receive an error message informing you as such. In this situation simply reconnect to the server, repeat the process, and ensure that the password is entered without any typos.

Creating Ranks

  1. Right-click anywhere in the Ventrilo white space, go to Server Admin, and click Rank List – This will open the Rank List menu which displays all current ranks, and allows you to add, delete and edit them.

  2. To create a new rank click the Add button at the bottom of the Rank List menu – This will open the Rank Edit menu.

  3. Enter the desired abbreviation*.
*The abbreviation is the text that will appear next to the person's username on the server.
Example: “ADMIN” is often used as the abbreviation for Administrator, and would look like this on the server: [ADMIN] Username.

  4. Enter the Long Description*.
*The long description is where you will enter the full details of the rank. This text does not appear on the server, and is only used for organizational purposes.
Example: If the rank is for an admin you might enter something like “Rank indicates user is a Server Administrator.”

  5. Enter the Level* of the rank.
*Rank levels range from 0-100, with 100 being the highest rank.

Assigning Ranks to Users

  1. Right-click anywhere in the Ventrilo white space, go to Server Admin, and click User Editor – This will open the User Editor menu.

  2. Select the user profile you would like to assign a rank to from the Current Users list on the left side of the User Editor menu.

  3. Open the drop down Rank menu, and select the rank you want to apply to that user profile.

  4. Click the Update button at the bottom of the User Editor to apply the rank to the profile.

  5. Congratulations! You have successfully applied a rank to a user profile. Repeat this process to assign ranks to additional profiles, and close the User Editor menu when finished.
