How to Setup Reserved Slots in Ventrilo

Download Ventrilo

Logging in as the Server Administrator

Ignore this section if you are already logged in as an administrator.

  1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Login – This will bring up the Enter Admin Password menu.

  2. Enter your server's Admin Password and click OK.

  3. You will now be logged in as an administrator on your server, which will be denoted by a capital “A” next to your server's name in the upper-left corner of the server.

If the password was entered incorrectly you will automatically be kicked from the server, and receive an error message informing you as such. In this situation simply reconnect to the server, repeat the process, and ensure that the password is entered without any typos.

Changing the Number of Reserved Slots on Your Server

Reserved slots are slots that are set aside for specified users. They allow certain users to connect when the server would otherwise be full. For example: if you have a 10 user Ventrilo Server, and you designate 2 slots as reserved, then only 8 users who are not “reserved” will be able to connect. The remaining 2 slots are saved for those users who are in the Reserved List.

  1. Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click User Editor.

  2. Select the user profile you wish to edit from the Current Users list Go to the Network Tab.

  3. Check the “In reserved list” box, and click the Update button at the bottom of the User Editor to apply this change to your Ventrilo Server.
