Logging in as the Server Administrator
Ignore this section if you are already logged in as an administrator.
Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click Login – This will bring up the Enter Admin Password menu.
Enter your server's Admin Password and click OK.
You will now be logged in as an administrator on your server, which will be denoted by a capital “A” next to your server's name in the upper-left corner of the server.
If the password was entered incorrectly you will automatically be kicked from the server, and receive an error message informing you as such. In this situation simply reconnect to the server, repeat the process, and ensure that the password is entered without any typos.
Setting Up User Profiles
Right-click anywhere in the white space inside the Ventrilo Client, go to Server Admin, and click User Editor. This will display the User Editor window.
The User Editor enables server administrators to create, modify or delete user accounts on the Ventrilo server. An administrator can also assign permissions on a user-by-user basis.
Click the New button at the bottom of the User Editor and enter the user's name in the Login Name box.
You must type the name exactly as it will appear when the user connects to the Ventrilo server (including numbers, spacing, and punctuation).
Assign the user account a unique password in the Password box.
The User Password is used to connect to the Ventrilo server. It is used in place of the server's Global Password if one is specified.
Open the Profiles menu near the top right of the User Editor, select Generic User and click the Load button.
Profiles allow you to automatically apply permissions without specifying each permission manually. This helps save time when adding multiple user's who share the same permissions.
Once satisfied with the setup of the account, click the Add button at the bottom of the User Editor. The user account will now appear in the Current Users list on the left side of the User Editor. This indicates the user account was successfully added to the Ventrilo server.
You have successfully created a non-administrative user account. Please make sure this user disconnects from the server and then reconnects using the username and password assigned to them. Repeat this process to create additional user accounts on the server.
