Voice Communication for Gamers
Double-click the Ventrilo icon on your desktop to open the Ventrilo Client.
Click the right-facing arrow button next to User Name at the top of the Ventrilo Client – This will open the Setup User menu.
Click the New button, enter the username you will use to connect to Ventrilo, and click OK. The username will be the name that others see when you are connected to a server, and can be set to anything you want.
Leaving Phonetic, Description, and Work Dir blank, click OK. You have successfully created your username.
Click the right-facing arrow button next to Server at the top of the Ventrilo Client.
Click the New button, enter the username you will use to connect to Ventrilo, and click OK. This name is for your reference only, and does not affect whether or not you can connect.
Enter the Ventrilo Server's hostname or IP address, port number and password (if applicable) into the appropriate boxes, and click OK. You have successfully entered your server's information.
If you have created your username and properly entered your server's connection information you should see “?MSG: Server is available. Press connect.” displayed in the white space of the Ventrilo Client. – This indicates that you are ready to connect to the server.
Click the Connect button on the right side of the Ventrilo Client, and you should join the server instantly.
You have successfully connected to a Ventrilo Server, and can begin communicating with other users immediately.
